These Rosarita glass earrings have a beautiful striking red color! The cabochons are set in fine silver and feature a sterling silver bead border. The sterling silver studs are set 1/4 inch from the top. The earrings are stamped sterling and with my makers mark. Handmade in Litchfield, Nebraska.
Rosarita is glass slag created as a by-product of gold refining techniques used primarily during the 1940s through the 1970s. Beach sand rich in gold was smelted in open crucibles to extract precious metals. What remained after this crude smelting was a glassy, often richly colored material.
